Dear Baby Girl

Dear Baby Girl,

I've had such a hard time being pregnant with you. I've been so scared, terrified actually, that you would not make it like so many of your siblings. I've been afraid to become too attached to you, fearful that my heart would be broken once again, but so much worse this time because we've had such a long journey together.

Over the past few weeks I've made a lot of progress, however. I've felt you growing and moving inside me every day. Your daddy has felt you, and we've started thinking about a name for you. Your sister is adamant we name you Bella, as she thinks it's the most beautiful name in the world. But there are so many Bellas out there right now and we want you to have a name special to you. So we're still thinking.

I've decided on bedding for your room. It's purple and blue, and we're excited to decorate especially for you. When we had Mia we didn't know she was a girl so her room was very neutral. But this room is being decorated with our sweet girl in mind.

Last week I made my first purchase just for you. It was nothing big, just a onesie with a little purple tutu on it. Yet I cried as I put it in my cart. It's been very hard to believe you're really going to be joining us, that we'll really get to hold you in our arms and love you with all our hearts.

Today I talked to you out loud for the first time. I was home by myself and I felt you moving around in my belly. I looked down and I could actually see you moving, little bumps and ripples in my stomach. So I started talking to you out loud. I told you how much I love you, and how happy I am to be your mommy. I love you so much baby girl, and I hope you always know how much you are loved and wanted.

Love, Mommy
